You can enable or disable the audio return channel (ARC) function within the setup menu of in receiver. Make sure that you have ARC turned on. Using the Yamaha remote, press ON SCREEN, go to Setup, and select HDMI. In the HDMI menu select ARC and turn it on. By default AV4 is setup as your ARC input on TV1 and AV1 on TV2.

I have a Yamaha receiver (rx-v679) which passes through HDR 4K content to my TV from my LG 4K Blu-ray player just fine. But with the Apple TV I can only get 4K without HDR. Anyone seeing other devices that will work through a receiver but not the Apple TV? Plugged directly into the TV the AppleTV does push through the HDR content however.

Samsung Q90R, Anthem Mrx 720, Apex A10x6, Apex A40. Skyq.panasonic ub820. svs sb 2000 pro. I had the same issue with a 675 and a Samsung 64F8500. I have my receiver tucked away from 18 month old sticky fingers so needed CEC to work flawlessly. It didn’t so the 675 went. apparently Yamaha ARC and Samsung TVs aren’t exactly compatible.

How can I connect my Samsung AVR to my TV?
The Samsung website says to enable AnyConnect+ (which is an HDMI-CEC solution), but since my receiver isn’t a Samsung, it doesn’t find it. (GJ Samsung, only telling people how to connect to other Samsung stuff. Too bad you make shit audio products) Am I just going to have to use an optical cable to go from the TV to the AVR?
