Does anyone want to defend the Denon AVR-S960H? It may be less of a need to defend the Denon as opposed to question the reviewer. He keeps ripping the “sound” without measurements of direct comparisons to other receivers using all of the same speakers and subs (where the sound actually comes from).

Which is better the Marantz or the Denon?
The Denon makes a fine amp for film and TV whereas the Marantz is certainly more musical. On the other hand I have a Rega stereo amp that is far more dynamic than both the Denon and Marantz. It’s all down to personal taste.

Unfortunately, though, in the process, I misplaced the calibration microphone for my receiver (Denon X3400H). Can I buy a simple replacement, or are microphones calibrated to the receiver uniquely?
